In the course of the eighties Jeff Mills was an influential radio DJ on WJLB under the pseudonym The Wizard. Mills' sets were a highlight of the nightly show from The Electrifying Mojo, Charles Johnson. Complimenting Mojo's eclectic playlists, Mills would spin obscure detroit techno, hiphop, electro, freestyle, miami bass, chicago house and classic new wave tracks. The untitled ninth studio album by American rapper Nas, commonly referred to eponymously as Nas, was released on July 15, 2008 by The Jones Experience and Def Jam Recordings. Its original title Nigger was changed due to controversy surrounding the racial epithet. The album is distinguished for its political content, diverse sources of production, and provocative subject matter. The album features guest appearances from Chris Brown, Keri Hilson, Busta Rhymes, and The Game, among others. While I'll admit there is definitely a similar sound in the Something In The Sky series, I'm siding with "the future of techno" over "minimal cop out" (This was supposed to be a 'reply' to johnbennett's review, somehow it ended up as a separate review). I'm convinced Jeff Mills was abducted by aliens, and now IS an alien but DJ part time. He's a genious. Be sure to listen to B1 of SITS 005... it blows me away. As far as "tweaking" goes, I think techno by its very repetitious nature leaves room for tweakage and still getting away with being another legit cut. Indeed, variety is not the key here with the SITS series, but I'll take a full length CD of this stuff any day. There's also a difference between needle-drop comparisons and actually getting in the zone of the track; in other words, getting lost in the groove for the duration where you hear more on the subconscious level. I suggest you listen to this whole record again, and with headphones. My 2 cents.
